Life can be difficult, especially when it comes to juggling parenting, family activities, school activities, full-time jobs, maintaining a household, and every other task under the sun. Sprinkle in a few setbacks, sicknesses, financial distresses, global pandemics, and bad hair days and it is easy to feel like your world is crumbling. Take comfort- you are not alone!
My hope is to help you learn how to manage some of the everyday difficulties of life and help you feel confident in your abilities as a parent in a world where anything goes. I hope to share resources, stories, and a few laughs along the way. Who knows where this will lead!
My name is Melinda. I am a mother of two beautiful children and a wife to a very supportive, loving husband. My husband and I both work full-time jobs and do our best to raise our children to be faithful, respectful, responsible, and happy members of society.
I believe that one of the most important things a person should do is figure out who they are. How can you function well in society and relate to others if you don’t know who you are? Obviously, we know who we are, but what makes us tick? What are we good at? Where do we fall short? What upsets us and what brings us joy? How do we love others best and what makes us feel loved?
I am an Assertive Advocate. I am creative, insightful, principled, passionate, idealistic, and altruistic. I am also intense, overly sensitive, a perfectionist, reserved, and stubborn. There are many other “not so great” things about me, but let’s focus on the positive, right? Knowing these things about myself allows me to assess my environment and interactions and focus on how best to respond to people and situations. I don’t get it right a lot of the time, but I keep trying.
I’ve spent most of my life wondering about my purpose. I’m sure you have too. If you’ve figured it out, that’s great! I always thought I was meant to do something HUGE in life. I’m not curing cancer or ending world hunger and, for someone like me, it’s hard not to feel like a failure. Let’s face it- I’m no spring chicken and I’m not getting any younger! I’ve come to realize that even if I don’t see the results of my work today, like a ripple on the water’s surface, it will spread and grow larger and larger and reach farther and farther. My purpose in life is to be a helper. I don’t know exactly what that means or what that looks like yet, but I know I won’t figure it out if I don’t start somewhere. So, here I am. This is where I choose to start.
